Some of the samples are completely gone from the Exs24 library. Half may load-up and some patches names may have no samples at all. Here is a few that loads-up half of the way
Under Factor settings:
Acoustics Piano-
1. grand piano+strings 1
2. piano and string layer
3. steinway piano & pads
Drum & Percussion -
Jazz Kit

Under Factor settings:
Orchestra-
strings/strings ensemble
This patch has no samples at all. I can go on...

Has anyone else experience this? I did a manual search and the missing files don't exist. This is weird. Hmm...

Thanks,
Al

I too am missing the Piano/Strings files. I haven't had any time to do any further investigation, I just wanted to chime-in to let you know you're not alone.

i was missing some of the jazz kit samples -- they are from garageband -- so if you don't have a folder in Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sample Files labelled 'Jazz Kit' -- then these are the missing ones...

I expect that these are all Garageband Installation issues...

Was ALL content - including Logic 7 "legacy" content - installed?

What I suspect is happening with "missing" files is one - or a combination of - the following things:
- some files have been renamed....and the "instrument" files haven't been updated.
- some files have been moved from being EXS or GB instruments to being "studio" instruments (so MainStage can access them)
- the conversion to CAF for the Apple Loops files

THe same applies with some setting files....which access instruments that have changed name/location.

I think this will be sorted out in due course, and resulted from the fact that there's so much content....and so some things slipped through the cracks.

There's another thread here where folks have mentioned instruments/settings that don't work.
I've created a sticky at the top of the forum for this.

kind of stupid if you ask me. this is where all my 3rd party plug in settings go, but then again, this is LOGIC 8 we are taking about... laugh.gif

I used EXS Manager to clean up the malay.. a lot of the samples didn't have the proper suffixes, so they were "lost"

I just use myself, when you use a third party app, things get "lost"

What I discovered is that some of the EXS instruments used in older songs, were not placed in the Previous Logic Settings Folder, the samples were still present. But I had to restore the EXS instrument from a backup.

When viewing the EXS24 plug it said: Missing Mini F Unison ?

Haven't had chance to open all of my tunes, but from looking at the backup, it looks like I previously had a lot more EXS catagories, and instruments.

I'll have to do an exact comparison to find out.

After taking a closer look, most of the EXS instruments are present, but organized differently.

Ones that were missing I dragged and dropped, Most of the missing instruments were variations on instruments that were present.

I also find that some EXS instruments can not find their files.

I was not a Logic 7 user so my Logic 8 install was completely fresh with no legacy files of any kind. Also, I do not have any LP7 projects that I must open in LP8.

When I installed Logic Studio 8 the check box which allowed the legacy LP7 samples was unchecked by default. In addition, I thought that I read that if you did not have any legacy issues one did not need to install the LP7 samples so I did not do it.

Does anyone know if this is a source of my problem?

Thanks,

Dave
