hello all.
i am having an impossible time getting the A62 m to record at 24 bits using Logic Audio 6.3 in OS 10.2.8 - after using it successfully in 9.1 for a long while. i tried simply using Logic to configure it, selecting "20/24 bit recording" in the Audio Hardware/Driver panel, but no go according to the unit's indicators (Logic reports the recorded files as being 24 bit, but they are not being converted to that depth by the interface, apparently).
i then tried setting it up via X's Audio/Midi panel. it's recognised, and configurable, and when i start Logic up the indicator lights all light up 24 bit... alas, though, Logic is not recieving any signal whatsoever from the interface. i can hear what's being miked along with my software instruments, but Logic can't record it - i get a silent file and nothing appears on the meters while i'm recording. only reinstalling the A62 software brought it back... at 16 bit. i also noticed that Audio/Midi Setup does not retain it's settings after restart - it resets itself to 6 x 16 bit/44.1khz inputs and 2 x 16 bit/44.1khz outputs, even though i configure it for 2 x 24 bit/44.1khz inputs and outputs.
i trashed Logic's preferences, have re-run the Setup Assistant, have reinstalled the A62, reconfigured Audio/Midi Setup, and have played with the sequence of these actions in different ways.
any other suggestions?

I had a similar problem under os9 actually. This was what had happened: The a62 prefs file had somehow become writeprotected. So try trashing the a62 prefs and see if that solves the prob.

ok, i tried trashing the preferences to no avail.
i didn't want to post again as i had gotten a hold of Panther install disks for cheap, and i was hoping the problem would magically dissappear in 10.3.
no go, same problems. if anyone has any more suggestions, i'd greatly appreciate it. i tried everything refered to earlier again after doing a fresh install of Panther, and again after the 10.3.3 and 10.3.4 updates.

Hey Boogs, is the A62 connected digitally to anything?
If so...what?

no, it's not connected to anything digitally. it's two inputs that are S/PDIF capable have midi going through them, which i dutifully selected in it's pref panel.
that gives me an idea, however... i didn't try disconnecting the midi ins while configuring. can you tell i'm desparate? frown

while this isn't the end of life on Earth, it's a bit frustrating. i bet it's something stupid too, something i screwed up.
suggestions still welcome, if any - and thanks again for those made.
