I'm one of those who've been left behind with a copy of VG2 before it went unsupported. I tried to install it (everything went right) but with my MacPro L8.02 and 10.5.5, it doesn't even see the AU VG2 plugin (not in the list).
Did anybody with the same configuration succeed using VG2?
Some people says there are updates that works in Leopard like 2.0.0.423 or 2.0.0.425 (I tried 20.0.0424 but it doesn't work)
Thanks for any input

Hello Sniper,
I have exactly the same setup as you, and I just installed VG2 a few days ago, and it's working ok.
What I did was this:
- downloaded and installed the latest version of Syncrosoft's License Control Center (http://www.syncrosoft.com/downloads/SyncrosoftLicenseControl.dmg)
- downloaded and installed the latest Universal Binary version of VG2
(ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/VSTi_Virtual_Guitarist_2/Mac/VirtualGuitarist2_UB_Update.dmg)
I did not use the original install DVD (which is not UB) for the actual installation at all; i just copied the sound data folder from it to appropriate location on my hard disk. So even if the VG2 disk image mentioned above is titled "update", you can actually use it to do a fresh installation from scratch.
I don't know if this is the correct (or only) way to install VG2, but at least in my case, it worked.
PS. Now that I checked, there are two different UB "updates" on Steinberg's FTP site; the other one is titled "ALT_VirtualGuitarist2_UB_Update.dmg". I have no idea what's the difference between them, or which one I actually used...

Thanks for your input...now I know there's some hope!!!
I did exactly as you described after deleting my old App. but it's the same
I don't even see it in User/Library/Audio/Plugin (not even the VST version)

But I can launch it in stand-alone mode...go figure....

In my case, the plugins were installed in the global area (/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins), not in the user's plugin area. I also noticed, that even if you don't need the VST plugins (i.e. you only use VG2 as an Audio Unit), they have to be installed in the correct location, otherwise the AU plugins won't work. The AU's probably use some VST code.
Did you try the "alternate" disk image from Steinberg's FTP site? It might be that I used that one when I did my installation (I honestly don't remember which one it was...)

Well, I re-did everything from the start (without the key while installing) and now it's up and rolling!!!
Thanks for your help

You're welcome; I'm glad to hear you got it up and running. Despite its support status (i.e. none), VG2 is still a great tool for us not-so-good-with-guitar guys (and gals).
